Far, far away in February

“Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.”
-Edgar Allan Poe

From hugging chickens to visiting cemeteries, this month has brought so many challenges. I found a cool wand and drew a little vampire!

In the studio

This has been a real slow month for me. I mostly focused on smaller sketches and Patreon artwork. Our Patreon community drawing was one of the most enjoyable ones yet!

Reflections & Inspirations

I spent most of my time this month recharging by taking mini trips out to places. One of these trips introduced me to the sweet chicken you see me holding. It was on my way to buy bubble tea, which is my new weekend routine, that I met her and her lovely friend. Since they were roaming on the road, I tried to find their home but wasn’t able to so we led them to a safer place and let them find their own way home.

I also found a cool, natural stick that was shaped like a wand. It felt like it summoned me to pick it up! I have yet to master its powers.

There’s a cemetery my boyfriend and I drive past every weekend, so this time we finally decided to venture inside. It’s a rather old cemetery with grungy looking tombstones surrounded by a small pond and cows roaming in a pasture. The setting really is so serene.

I’ve shared this and my other adventures in my vlog this month.

I found a fascinating new artist this month that I'm surprised I haven't come across before! His name is Edward Gorley and he creates the most incredible pen and ink drawings with colour. I love the different textures he incorporates in his work, the eerie way he draws faces and rather idiosyncratic shapes he puts together. While the faces of his characters usually don't have much expression to them, he manages to fill this void with so much emotion through the way he incorporates contrast and texture. His art style is eerie and reminds me of the writings of Edgar Allen Poe.

I've been a fan of the music of Florence + the Machine since her earliest days. She recently came out with a new song "King" that I love. The music video accompanying it is so amazing too!

Events & Updates

I've been running monthly art challenges with my Twitch community on Discord. It's a great way to find inspiration among your fellow artists and become part of a creative community. If you're keen, feel free to join my Discord.

In the shop

Not many new additions to the shop this month, but I have added a print of Frankenstein! He will soon be turned into a t-shirt, so stay tuned!
