Venturing into the new year

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
—Albert Einstein

This month has been so full of projects, changes and generosity. Here's a behind the scenes journey through my life as an artist over the past month. I try plein-air painting for the first time and talk about time management as an artist as well as dealing with lockdown changes. I hope you'll all enjoy my journey!

In the studio

These are some of my recent creations! I've started a new oil painting of my sketch from last year titled, "The Magical White Yak". I hope to finish it in the next few months! I also had some trial and error with my Frankenstein watercolour painting which you can see more of in my vlog on Youtube. I have also kept really busy illustrating a new storybook about Poogy & Phoebe, a little witch and her piglet familiar. This is all shared on my Patreon.

Reflections & Inspirations

January is usually such an overwhelming month for me. This year I decided to take a break — my first holiday in years! It felt good! Sometimes it's important to realise we can make time for ourselves, life will go on even though time won't stop!

One thing I had really focused on last year was developing a better schedule for my art. Since lockdown started again it's been really hard to stick to my former schedule since I was no longer working home alone. I also had to adapt to more projects I had taken on through Patreon. Even though it's been such a hectic, busy month for me, I feel like I'm more excited than ever before to see where it leads my art this year! I can't wait to bring you more paintings!

The highlight of my month was going plein-air painting with my Pochade box. It was the first time I ever went outdoor painting and I had so much fun! I loved being outdoors on such a lovely day! You can watch the whole excursion on Youtube.

An artist who really inspired me recently is Sergei Kurbatov. You can check out his work on his instagram. He does amazing watercolour art! I love how effortless and simple his paintings are.

A song I've been really into this month has been You Only Die Once by Kelsy Karter.

Events & Updates

There's so many new things I've worked on this month!

Probably the most exciting is my Patreon updates. I'm now working on a story about Poogy & Phoebe, a little witch and her piglet familiar. I share all updates to this story exclusively on my Patreon. I've also added exclusive merch of them which will be sent out to patrons throughout the year. I've also started sending out monthly postcards to patrons since last month. I now work on community drawings with my patrons where each patron gets to suggest a prompt for something I should add to the drawing. It's a lot of fun! These will often have illustrations of my story. See Patreon if you're interested!

I have also recently started vlogging, so if you would like to follow my month's journey as an artist, keep an eye on my Youtube channel.

Support me on Patreon

You can help me create more art!

Patreon is a place where you can sign up to help support your favourite artist with a monthly donation pledge! It's like a sponsorship system for artists :) The monthly donation can be however much you want to donate to me each month, it could be a dollar or two dollars. There are rewards for some of the donation tiers! Patreon allows me to keep creating more artwork on a regular basis. Thank you! ♥

I share an exclusive story about Poogy & Phoebe, a little witch and her piglet familiar. I'm working on producing a printed book of the two of them and rely on my patrons' support to do so. As a patron, you will receive exclusive merch of Poogy & Phoebe as well as see all the behind the scenes progress and exclusive illustrations.

There are also many other rewards, so check it out if you are interested!
