Spooky September

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” — Friedrich Nietzsche

September is the start of my busiest time of the year! I finally caught up with work, went on cool adventures and started a challenging goal!

In the Studio

I've set myself a huge artistic challenge this month, one that I've wanted to tackle for a few years. I'm drawing all the Drawlloween prompts in one big drawing! I have to admit, starting the first character was by far the most dautning part of this piece so far, but time will tell if I'll be able to fit them all into one drawing! It's a huge challenge but I'm so excited for the outcome! I've also been keeping busy with my Patreon story about Poogy & Phoebe. It's a story about a little witch and her pet piglet. Poogy continued his adventure with Phoebe this month! You can check out my patreon here.

Reflections & Inspirations

I went on so many adventures outside of my little studio. My fiancé and I celebrated our engagment with our families in an elaborate gothic fashion! The whole table was decorated in black with purple-themed food. It tasted and looked amazing!

I also played mini golf with Jacob (my fiancé). It was a themed course with so many interesting props! Some were scary, some were funny, all around we had an amazing time!

This month's featured artist of inspiration goes to Brett Manning. I've been a huge fan of Brett's for years and never stop being amazed by her achievements as an artist. Brett draws folklore, mythological creatures, animals and spooky entities. Her style is mostly monochrome with a strong focus on linework. The most amazing thing about her art is how they all seem to have a deep story to tell. She runs her own online and physical store selling clothing, candles and art prints. I always look up to her work ethic and dedication. You can find out more about her art here.

You may have noticed my website finally had its little garden tended to. I refurbished the whole thing! You can have a look here. I've recently come across the song "Paperdoll" by Kittie. It's a hard rock song with an ethereal feel. You can listen to it here. This month I finally caught up with overdue work and managed to keep to my schedule consistently. It's a huge achievement for me to manage my time better. Working freelance means you need to maintain your own schedule and workload, which can often be hard to balance with personal life and other commitments. Since I've proudly accomplished this challenge, I'm setting myself another for next month — to finish my Drawlloween piece on time! What is a challenge you faced and overcame recently? How did you feel after accomplishing it? I'd love if you could respond in the comments.

Events & Updates

I've been running monthly art challenges with my Twitch community on Discord. It's a great way to find inspiration among your fellow artists and become part of a creative community. If you're keen, feel free to join my Discord.

In the Shop

There are no updates to the shop this month, but keep an eye out as the Drawlloween print I'm working on will hit the shop in the next month or two!
